We are thrilled to announce that CEFEX, the Centre for Fiduciary Excellence, LLC, has once again renewed AMDG Financial’s certification to the standard described in the handbook “Prudent Practices for Investment Advisors.” AMDG Financial remains part of an elite group of investment advisory firms that have undergone this global certification process.
The standard describes how an investment adviser assumes the responsibility for managing a client’s overall investment management process, which includes the selection, monitoring and de-selection of investment managers, as well as developing processes to implement investment strategies and fiduciary practices on an ongoing basis. According to the Managing Director of the Centre for Fiduciary Excellence, Carlos Panksep, “Maintaining certification requires a continued adherence to the industry’s best practices. This is verified through our annual renewal assessment.”
AMDG Financial is certified for investment advisory services, and we are registered at www.cefex.org/advisor. You can view our certificate there, or on our website (it’s in the footer).
This is our 11thyear for voluntary certification, and in a previous blog, I’ve discussed why we think it should matter to you. Mainly, it’s one more way that we – as your adviser – can ensure that you always receive the highest standard of fiduciary care. It’s one thing for individual advisers to hold designations that require them to place your best interests first, but another for a firm to support fiduciary care by ensuring its processes always support a client-centric focus. This has been an important issue for me since I started AMDG Financial in 2002, and we were one of the first 10 advisory firms in the world to receive the CEFEX certification in 2007.
If you’re curious to learn more about our CEFEX certification, I encourage you to watch “What It Means to Be CEFEX Certified,” in which Carlos Panksep discusses how the certification is based on standards created by the International Organization for Standardization, or ISO, and that it serves as a sort of “Good Housekeeping Seal of Approval” for advisory firms. If you have questions after watching this two-minute video, please feel free to contact us. In our quest to be as transparent as possible, we want you to understand how our certification benefits you.
To earn CEFEX certification, advisory firms voluntarily subject to a conformity assessment based on the principles of the international standard ISO/IEC 17021. The certification provides
independent demonstration that a firm’s management system conforms to specified requirements, is capable of consistently achieving its stated policy objectives, and is effectively implemented. The assessment program includes an initial audit and annual renewal assessments. The extent of the assessment depends upon the size of the firm, the scope and complexity of its management system, procedures and processes, as well as the demonstrated level of management system effectiveness and the results of any previous assessments. A CEFEX certification is an independent recognition of a firm’s conformity to practices and criteria within a standard, and implies that the firm can demonstrate adherence to the industry’s best practices, positioning it to earn the public’s trust.
